Dance classes in Bexleyheath
Royal Academy of Dance registered teacher
20 years teaching and professional performing experience
Kate Sanderson trained from a young age in both dance and gymnastics studying various styles of dance including the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) ballet syllabus. She went on to complete a dance training diploma at Lewisham College and a Cert HE at the National Centre for Circus Arts before performing professionally for over twenty years. Career highlights include the Millennium Dome Central Show, Celebrity Cruise Lines with Opryland Productions in Nashville, Discovery Kingdom in California, The Royal Opera's productions of Hansel und Gretel and Gotterdammerung, and during 2011-2012 she worked as circus captain and aerial performer on the Batman Live World Arena Tour under the direction of Anthony Van Laast.
In 2026, she opened Kate Sanderson School of Dance in order to inspire and facilitate the next generation of both aspiring professional performers and those who just wish to experience the enjoyment of dancing. We aim to provide a professional and nurturing environment to ensure that all participants have the opportunity to develop their technical and performance skills, build their confidence and reach their full potential.
We currently offer RAD Ballet classes for ages 4+ including Silver Swans and are hoping to expand the timetable to include ISTD Modern, ISTD Tap, Contemporary, Jazz, Street, Commercial and Musical Theatre where there is demand.

What are your fee's?
For children's classes, fee's are charged on a termly basis and are due 7 days prior to the first day of term. Your space is not secured until payment is received and if not paid on time, your space may be offered to those on the waiting list. Please note fees are non refundable for sickness or absence. There is a one off registration fee of £20. Termly Fees equate as follows
40/45 min class £8.50 per class
55 min/ 1 hour class £9.00 per class
70/75 min class £9.50 per class
85/90 min class £10.00 per class
What are Silver Swans?
These classes are specifically designed for the over 55's, but whatever your age, if you are looking for a new way to keep fit, improve strength, balance and posture or enhance your well-being, please come and join us on Tuesday evenings at Townley Grammar School. Classes are £8 per class, paid weekly.
Do you do free trials?
We do currently charge £8 for all trial classes. This is payable by cash on arrival.
How do I book/pay?
Currently we do not operate an online booking system, please message or email us informing us of the classes that you are interested in, the participants age or school year and any previous training or grades attained.
What should I wear?
For trial classes please wear comfortable clothes i.e leggings and leotard or a t-shirt, no jewellery, hair in a bun for ballet, securely tied back for all other classes and ballet shoes with ribbons/elastics attached or jazz shoes or bare feet (dancing in socks is not permitted). If signing up to our termly classes, children will be required to wear uniform. We will provide you with our uniform list which can then be purchased by visiting Stage Door, 2 Invicta Parade, Sidcup High Street, DA14 6ER.
When can my child take their exam?
Children can be entered for their exam when they have secured good knowledge of the syllabus and this will be decided by their teacher. For grades 1-3, RAD recommend 60 hours of guided learning. Therefore it is strongly advised that children wishing to take their exams should participate in 2 ballet classes per week.
Can parents watch/remain on site?
In usual circumstances parents are not permitted to watch classes although we do arrange for a watching week once per term.
What is your pick up procedure?
At the end of class children are to be collected from the studio door. Please inform Kate Sanderson if your child is being collected by someone previously unknown to us or if you give permission for your child to leave unaccompanied.
